Documents to show binding ties with home country

Hi:

Can anyone tell me what kind of documents can we produce to prove we have binding ties with home country? My wife is planning to get her H-4 converted to F-1. We need apply for the visa soon since her classes start in January.

Someone please respond, if you were in a similar situation before and have gone through the process. Thanks.

Out of Status!

A friend of mine, came into the US on an F1 visa and since the last 12 months, he has been out of status. INS has given time till
June, 02 for him to leave the country. (They got to know about his status recently while travelling on a greyhound bus).

If he gets married to a US citizen, will he have trouble getting a GC. I heard there\'s a rule that says, that if a person is out of status on a temporary visa for more than 180 days, then he will be denied a GC.
