Documents at Port of Entry after 9-11 !!

Hi Folks,

I am on a visit to India and did change my employer a few months ago. I do have my ex-employers H1-B visa stamped on my passport and I do have my current employers I-797 Notice of Action with me.

Does anyone have any recent experience if we can enter with a valid ex-employers H1-B stamped visa and a current employers I-797 ? The u.s. state department\'s website suggests that we can use the above documents to enter us and its not necessary to get the new employers Visa stamped if the visa category cannot be changed. But the Moronic folks at the us consulate dont agree quixotically withe their own state depts website.

Will appreciate any help/experience on the issue.
