Hello,
I am looking for help on following 2 questions:

1) The National Visa Center (NVC) completed processing my immigrant visa application and scheduled visa interview at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General, Montreal for processing under category- F31- Married Son/Daughter of US Citizen. Now my passport is renewed. How can I report updated passport to US embassy before interview in April 2025.
2) My father is my petitioner. However, he is currently visiting me in Canada and returning back to US after April. Does it impact on my interview? Will immigration officer refuse my visa because my father is in Canada during my interview in April 2025? FYI, My father is retired and my sister in law has provided affidavit of support who is in USA.

Appreciate your help or sharing expertise related to above questions.

1. You can just update it at the interview
2. F visas are family reunification so the petitioner is expecting to be living in the US for the visa to be issued. A temporary visit outside the US shouldn’t be a problem. Your father would, I believe, be expected to be back in the US before you enter on your immigrant visa.

SusieQQQ and Sorolio2003- Thank you again for your responses. Help me if you have answer for the following.

1. Is it necessary that my father should be in USA during my Visa interview OR he should be in USA when i get approval of Green card and entering in USA.

Hi good morning, what I wouldn’t do is if you are asked, do not lie to the immigration officer. That is the worst thing to do. Even if they don’t catch the lie there, at an upgrade or renewal of your visa you can be denied and deported. So it’s very important not to make that mistake.
