Hi,
I am visiting India in March. I need to stamp my H1 in Mumbai consulate as the stamp has expired. Has anyone done this recently? What are the documents needed? can i put them in the drop box?
Also I am planning to bring my wife along on H4. She will be dropping the documents in a drop box Hyderabad. A list of documents needed and some sample documents will be of great help.
Thanks
Brij
For your new H1B visa, you will need the following:
DS-156 form filled out,
DS-157 filled out (if you are between 16 and 45 years old),
ORIGINAL I-797 H1 approval notice,
An ORIGINAL letter (signed by someone authorized and on company stationery) from your employer outlining your job responsibilties and stating your current salary,
Latest pay stubs ( 3-6 months),
Fees,
If you have changed jobs, include copies of ALL previous H1 approvals. Copies of all I-94's will also help establish that you were in status. If your company is a small/not-publicly traded/start-up, it will help to carry company's annual reports, and any other documents establishing the company's financial strength.
For your wife,
DS-156 filled out,
ORIGINAL I-797 H4 approval notice,
YOUR ORIGINAL I-797 approval notice/and or copies of your current visa,
Marriage certificate ORIGINAL,
marriage photos (1-3)
Fees
If your wife has previously held H4 status, copies of all previous H4 approvals.
Both of you cna use the drop box facility.
It would be better of both of you apply TOGETHER since original H1 approval may be required for both of you.
Why are you applying in Mumbai and your wife in Chennai?
I hope this helps!
