Do you need to be post doc to apply for NIW?

Hi everybody,

I am currently a post doc in a biostatistical lab. I received an offer for a staff position at the same place and same job description (and assurance that I will continue to do research and write papers). I am planning to apply for a NIW in maybe a year (I changed fields after graduation and my resume is not quite strong right now).

In terms of the NIW application: I am better off as a post doc or it won't matter?

Any suggestions are appreciated

it does not matter as long as your work is national importance, instrinsic mertit etc...

It does not matter...In fact we don't even need a PhD, even you can apply for NIW with a MS.

for NIW, the TIPS are as follows:

1)Ph.D degree makes life easier
2)good publication
3)good citation
4)reco letters (external, national lab are best)
5)some membershpip/awards/presider
6)most important is petition letter, should stress your work is national interest, and LC is not required.
