Do we need original 485 Receipt?

Hi,

I filed for 485 one year agao and am affected by retrogression.
Planning to look via AC-21 way.


We do have the photocopy of the 485 receipt.

Do we need the original 485 receipt for any reason? (travel, RFE,MTR etc etc) :confused:

I'm affected by retrogression too. I was approved at the interview but not stamped due to the inavailability of a visa number.

What is AC-21?
 
ac-21 helps u to change jobs

If ur 485 is pending you could use AC21 to change jobs.

Did you ever had a need for 485 original receipt ?
 
You need I-485 receipt only when you go to the local office (for interim EAD or emergency AP). But I'm not sure if you need original receipt. You can probably tell them that the original is with the company or attorney.
 
at time of stamping?

I heard that when u get approved and go for 485 stamping - you need the receipt (original).

My employer/attorney does not give.

They would threaten me when i use AC-21 -like they would not provide the document.

I went for stamping just yesterday at the Houston office. All they asked for was I-485 approval notice (ofcourse, they also asked for 2-passport style photos, passport, I-94, all EADs and APs). I didn't even take the receipt notice out of my file.
 
how about travel? Or Motion to reopen

How about travel - out of country? Do they ask for original 485 recepit at point of entry?


Worst case scenario - If somthing goes wrong and if i have to motion to reopen, do i need the document.


Could anyone confirm please ?

what is the receipt for 485, my lawyer has sent a notice which they received from INS which has the SRC number, is this the receipt notice? or any other one please let me know.
