Do we Need H1-B approval for Visa appointment booking at New Delhi?

Hello,

My brother has filed for H1-B this year. He got H1-b filing receipt. But for booking visa slot in New Delhi, the online reservation system is aksing H1-B Petetion expiration date etc., which is not mentioned on the H1-B receipt and will be there on H1-B approval.

Can't we book the appoinment slot unless you have H1-B approval?

you can make a tentative booking. If your bro has filed his H1 b petition this year and if he gets an approval for three years then the validity may be 10/01/2006 - 09/30/2009. Try making an appointment with this expiry date. May be it will work.

But if your brother gets a validity of only 1 year then you need to cancel this booking and re do another one. Good luck to you.

If it was me I would wait for the approval to come just so I can avoid problem later on. You will not know the date anyway till you get your approval, so it is always better to wait in the beginning then to be in trouble later.
