Do supporting documents require notarization?

Reading though the I-130 and I-485 instructions I do not not see anywhere it mentioned that photocopies of any supporting documents with those forms/applications needs to be notarized (to reflect that they are the true copy of the original).

Can someone tell me if photocopies are sufficient or do I need to notarize?

As a Notary Public in the State of Maryland, I can tell you that we can't notarize certain documents such as birth certificates and marriage certificates.

Also, as someone that has gone through the I-130 and I-485 process, submit a photocopy of the document with your application and then come to the interview with the original. When we went through the process, we sent in a copy of our marriage certificate issued by a court here in the US. The officer requested to see our original at the time of the interview, and wrote on the photocopy in the file "saw original."
