Do I need to wait for I-824 approval before going for CP

My lawyer had chosen I-485 route when my I-140 application was filed. I wish to proceed the consular processing route. My understanding is that I need to file I-824 indicating a change in the process.

Do I have to wait for I-824 to be approved before starting the CP process, or is just the receipt of I-824 enough?

Any experiences/comments would be very helpful.

TIA

Will your Consulate be Mumbai Consulate ?
If yes then you dont need to wait for the 824 to be approved. Once your lawyer files the 824, they will also need to send the application packet to the Mumbai Consulate with the Receipt of 824 filling.
Based on this the Mumbai Consulate will issue you an appointment.

Thanks

Thanks for your response. It looks from your profile that you have gone down similar path. Can you share you email address, i would like to ask you a few details. I have sent you a Private Message.

As for the consulate, I assume it will be Mumbai, since I was born there and studied there until I came to the US. My wife's however from Chattisgarh. Don't know how that changes the whole thing, hopefully not since I will be the primary applicant.

(I know some one from Pune area who went for CP, but had an appointment scheduled at Delhi!! So its weird).

Thanks again for your response.
