Hi All,
I have to send my passport to get Canadian visa. It sometimes take 30-60 days to get back the passport.
My question is Do I need to carry my original passport for FP or some other photo ID will work? Can I present a notorized copy of ID pages from my passport instead?
Any suggestions?

On my FP appointment notice it was stated that I should bring some picture ID. But at the ASC center, after I gave them my driver's license, they still asked to see my passport as well. Of course, in my case my first name had a little discrepancy between different IDs and my I-485 application (due to different translations from my native language), you may not have this problem. I'd say, if you have to send your passport away, do it. [If anyone disagrees, please chime in and give your reasons.] Bringing a notarized copy of biographic pages (along with your driver's license) won't hurt. If they don't find that acceptable (although I doubt that), you usually have a grace period during which you must get your biometrics done (on my notice it was 2.5 months) - hopefully, within that period your passport will be returned. Good luck!
