I'm filling my forms and I encounter the question about my I-94 # I don't have it when I came over 18 years ago I never went back, I lost the document and obviously the dates on the I-94 are far from over.

Question: do I need to replace it to fill out the question about the number in the I-94?

Please someone advise

Thanks

since I did'n receive any answers from this site I'll post what I found.

I call the office of my congressman they usually have free immigration services and I was told by a very nice lady that I need to have that document in order to fill out the form I-485 and the one to request worker's permit.

So the form to request a replacement for the I-94 is : I-102 and the fee is $320. (May 2010)

I'm in CT and I already apply to have it replace but it seems they can't find the record, I'm trying to find as much information as I can to send back, they asked me for a copy of my passport and the number, a copy of the visa and the visa number (again I send that info with the application already) and information of people who came with me at that time meaning they want the I-94 number from someone who came with me; here's the issue I came with my sister and soon after, she returned home and the I-94 she received here was taken away when she returned home by costumes so I'm not sure what else to send them but her passport number and visa, which I don't think is going to help much.

No, you don't need your I-94 if you had already lost it. I had similar issue & I sent my I-485 without it & I sure had no problem as you can see in my signature being approved PR status & now I'm a proud US citizen.
Atique.

What you need is proof of legal entry to the US. Ideally you would have the I-94, but if you have the arrival stamp in your passport and also the visa you used, that should be enough to convince USCIS of legal entry.

That is such great news, I'm here stuck waiting to get the I-94 just to send the papers, thanks for the help, I'm getting my stuff together so i can send the papers in the oncoming weeks, too bad I didn't know this before because I send the application with the $340 I could have save that.

Thanks a lot that really made my day, I do have the visa and a stamp in my passport although the stamp doesn't say much (from my perspective) but if that's all I need I'm sending the papers right away.

Thanks again
