Do i need to notify INS ?

I recently returned on Advance Parole with new I-94 Card.. My H1 B expired meantime.. and have already applied for 7th year extension

  Do i need to Notify INS to use my new I-94 or something like that ???

I spoke to a lawyer he said you need to . ... can any body advice ?

  Also After returning on Advance Parole - will i be on H1 or EAD ?

seems INS does not say anthing about this specifically ??
