Do I need to mention SSN for filing H-1B?

Hi,
I worked in US with L-1B visa and had SSN at that time. Now a new firm is filing for my H-1B. Do I need to mention my SSN to them? Is there any requirement for mention SSN? What will happen if I don't mention that?

Was SSN a field in one of the DS 156 or 157 forms? Foreign (new) applicants will not have one anyway.

You need to give your SS# and also a copy of your SS card to the petitioner.
