Do I need to get Visa to Come back to USA

Hi All,
I am a H1B Visa Holder. My Visa Stamping on my passport is expired but I have a Valid Passport , I-94 and Valid H1b approval notice. I like to go to Canada for Visit and I will stay in Canada for 4 days. Do I need to get a Visa stamping from any of the American Consulate in Canada in order to enter into USA? I will really appreciate if you answear this question. Thanks

I agree, getting an appointment is a good idea.

when I came back the last time, they checkd only the I-94 but
that was before sept 11.

If you have a valid I-94 then you can enter into USA. Last week one of my best friend went to canada stayed there and came back. They just looked at his I-94 and let him in. Infact he came here on visit Visa and had I-94 from L1 visa. His Visit visa had expired 6 months back.
