Do I need to bring my child for passport stamping?

My child is 6 years old. Does anybody know whether I have to bring her with me or her passport is enough?

Thanks.

I am in the same situation. I am reading this forum for such situation but have not come across any. Technically, I know that,

- PP stamping is not a must if you are not travelling until you get the plastic card (some argue that stamp PP is a must)
- At the time of PP stamping, the officer takes form I-89 which triggers ordering of Plastic Card.
- Finger Printing is not required at the time of stamping if you are below 14 years
- You need 2 ADIT photos for the card which officer collects
- Officer may ask for I-94 and AP for child.( not all officers ask)

Please share your experience and any findings in this forum.

Thanks.

Doesn't matter since you anyway have to go to fill I-89.

My friends received plastic GC for their 6 years old son in 2 weeks after approval before they went for stamping. Of course, they didn't take him for stamping. I remember a post on this forum describing the same situation.
Other my friends brought their daughter and were requested to show her. I guess, the officer wanted to be sure that she exists physically at all.

Taking into account that there always could be contradictory instructions I can easily assume that they can send children plastic GC without I-89 and, at the same time, request their physical presence at the moment of passport stamping.
I can bring all the documents of my daughter and I'd like to avoid taking her along.
People, please, share your experience about this matter.

Thanks.

Passport stamping is not a must but filling I-89 form is a MUST to obtain Plastic Card. Passport is stamped with I-551 with a valifity of 1 year. This can be used in lieu of Plastic Card. Sometimes it takes up to a year to get Plastic Card. With a stamp on passport one can travel.

You do NOT need your daughter to be present at the time of stamping. But this is what I would do, let her not stamp passport and simply fill the I-89. You can fill up I-89 on her behalf as she is minor. If officer asks then you can tell that she is at home/school and you do not intend to stamp her passport as she is not going to be travelling. As she is minor, she does not need FP.

Please note the difference in two processes,
1. Passport stamping (does not trigger ordering of Plastic Card).
2. Filling up of form I-89 triggers ordering of Plastic Card.

Both the processes are done simultaneously and are indepenedent of each other. One can choose either 1 or 2 or both. In your case 2 will be the best option and you will not need to show up your child.

Unfortunately, I had different answer. I was told I must bring children.

This wouldn't do for me. Because I was intended to stamp her passport as she was going to travel abroad.
