Do I need to be in US for CP?

I have applied for I140 and opted for CP at Chennai.

Do I have to be US till I get Interview call?
Can I go to India before I140 approval and apply for CP there once I140 approved?
Do they ask at the time of interview as why I returned to India?

>>Since GC is for a permanent job in US for future,it is not necessary to be in US.As long as your sponsoring company is ready to get you the employement after the GC,you could stay/work in India.

>>There is no such restriction for I-140 and there are some people may not be in the forum have tried to file every stage outside US and have go their GC via CP.Again as long as your company is ready to sponsor and has job position after CP,you can do this.

A Yes, you can do that.

A Though they may ask, it has nothing to do with your GC approval until you have all the required documentation and a valid job in India.

GC process can be done from the very begining step (from LC approval) even if you are in India.
