My grandparents are sponsored by their son who is my dad. My dad, his brother, and sister sponsored for my grandparents to come to the US as immigrants. They have their green cards. They came in June 2011 until December 2011. Then they went to Iran for a year and a half. This means that they were out of the U.S. for a year and a half.
They came to the U.S. May 17th 2013 and are staying until November 17, 2013.
The U.S. Immigration Officer issued a piece of paper to my grandma who doesnt speak English stating that she must get a re-entry permit before she leaves the U.S. Again or else they lose permanent resident status.
Another option is to apply for a returning resident visa.
Do I need to get a re-entry permit for my grandparents or a returning resident visa?
They plan to come to the U.S. in 6 month intervals and go back to Iran in 1 year intervals.
Question two: Upon obtaining a re-entry permit, since it expires every 2 years, does that mean I have to pay the fees again for a NEW re-entry permit?
