Do I need new H1B1?

I have a question:

I started to work in the University as a Postdoc. position. Then i was promoted and offered a permanent position in the same department and doing the same thing. Do I need a new H1B1 or I can use the old one continuously until it expires?

If there are significant changes to your job description and salary you will need a new LCA and therefore an amendment to your H1 petition. Seems like your (temporary) post doc position became a regular (permanent) position. You will then need a new LCA and H1 change. Of course the attorney handling your case should have the last word on this.
