Birth CertificateTranslation - how?

For I -485, it asks for the copy of birth certificate in the orignal language with translation certified by the translator. Does the translator need to be 'certified' or do they mean that she/he can just somehow certify the translation? Is there any standard way to do this? I can ask a friend who speaks both languages but she's not a professional translator.

Your friend can do this, it's fine. The translator doesn't have to be "certified", the translation does. The translator should certify that he/she is fluent in both languages and the translation is accurate.

I did mine back in my country, they issued both english and my native language and a cetified letter in both language to say the translation is right. Maybe your family back home can help you to do it and mail it to you
