Do I need F1 after I-140 approval?

My wife applied NIW and I140 has been approved. Both of us filed I485 with her I140 at that time. I am on F1 OPT now and I will go to school again this September. Since my wife's I140 has been approved, do I need to get new F1 (or transfer F1) to start new school? Can I apply for EAD and use it to go to school? I am very confused now. Thanks for your help.

If you have filed I-485, you should be able to apply for EAD and use it to go to college or even get an employment without restriction. The only problem is that if your I-485 is denied, you will be out-of-status. You may want to seek advice from an immigration attorney to be sure, and understand all the risks.
