I don't think you need AP for Hawaii, but yes for Virgin Island (or any other outlying islands).

Nonsense. Somebody has miguided you. Hawaii is the 50th state of USA. I had been to Hawaii couple of months ago with my 485 pending.

There is nothing wrong with carrying a valid AP when you travel to Virgin Islands, for your own safety.
What's the issue here?

why INS works so slowly with the 485 approvals. How could we get them speed up with a silly filer like you, who does not even know Hawaii is just one of the 50 states of the US?!
