I was granted asylum in May 2005. I applied and receied my EAD back then but never worried about renewing it.
About two years ago I was told by Youth Co-op, Inc. (www[dot]ycoop[dot]org/Home[dot]htm) personnel that base on documents "Documents You Need To Work In The U.S." (www[dot]ssa[dot]gov/immigration/documents[dot]htm) by the Social Security Administration, and "New Process for Issuing Employment Authorization Documents to Asylees" (www[dot]immigration[dot]com/newsletter1/qausciasyle[dot]pdf) by the US Department of Homeland Security; neither refugees nor asylees HAVE TO apply for the Employment Authorization Document.
I cant' find anything that would make me think that in the document from the Homeland Security Department but it is clearly stated in the document but the SSA that "All refugees have employment authorization based on their status as refugees. All individuals granted asylum are authorized to work based on that status. An asylee does not need to show an employment authorization document as proof of employment authorization when applying for a Social Security number and card."
My question, as stated in the subject is:
Are these two documents saying that refugees or asylees do not need to apply for the Employment Authorization Document??

Please advice. Any and all comments on this issue are greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advanced,
