Yes you need a visitor visa

If your H1 is still valid you don\'t need your AP. Actually when yoyu cross the border they do not take your i-94 card at all and they don\'t give you a new one. As long as you are in North America you don\'t need new i-94.

I was in Canda last month same thing like you..I have AP and my GC is still pending. I took Candadina Visitor visa and went there and came back. I never used my AP since my H1 is valid..
