Hi All,

I was getting ready to apply for my green card through my wife who just became a USA citizen when I realized that my passport expired couple of months back. Does anyone know if I need a current passport to apply for GC based on spouse? or if I can apply for the GC and have the passport renewal process run concurrently.

I am currently on a valid H1B visa.

Thanks in Advance!!!

She can apply for you and you can work on gettiing it renewed, you only need to renew it for travel, and it is not required to file a I-130 and I-485 that your wife will file for you.

No need for a valid passport.... you still need copies of the expired one with the entry visa to the US... from exprience...

Do you have a valid driver's license or state ID? You will need an ID for the fingerprinting and interview, and I don't think they will accept an expired passport if that is the only ID you have.

Thanks for the replies. These answers were very helpful. Yes, I have a valid state id so I should be able to use that in figerprinting and interview.

Thanks again..this forum rocks!!!!
