Do I have to work for the employer right away with EAD while I-485 pending?

Hi friends:
I just got my EAD approved because of my pending I-485. My employer told me that I can't start go to work till next month. My question is:
Do I have to work for the employer right away with the newly approved EAD while I-485 pending? Thank you for helps!

Ben,

No need to work for the employer right away. If you use the EAD then your H1 status will get void. GC is for future and you can be working for some other company till hour 485 is approved and if you want to use your EAD and join another company (other than the sponsor) you should have passed 180 days since your RD for 485.

when to use EAD is totally upto u.
