I am on L-1B, visa and my company is sponsoring me for GC. My lawyer advised me that after my PERM is approved, I have to switch to H1 before we can apply for I-140, Can some please kindly advise me is it must to change my status to H1 before apply for I-140. If i do change, my wife can't work.
