When I apply for a new RTD, do I have to attach the current one which is still valid to the end of 2005?

If I attach it to my application, how can I travel in the rest of 2005? That means this 1 year RTD can only be used for 6 months because the new RTD processing time is 6 months.

If I don’t attach it to my application and tell them the current RTD is still in use, will my application be denied?

You guys see. The USCIS is trying every way it could find to make troubles with us, the asylees who came to this great country to pursue freedom. Now our basic human right of traveling is limited. Each year we have to pay $165 and wait half years to be granted this basic human right. Should we file another lawsuite for this against USCIS?

I applied for a new one and kept the old one. Hope its not a problem. Also it takes 6 months to process the applcation but the valid date of the document is NOT the Notice Date but the date they approved your appliction...

So you do get 1 year of validity..

On the application form, there is one item, the number (4):
"Have you ever before issued a reentry permit or refugee travel? If yes, give the following information for the last document issued to you):
Date Issued (mm/dd/yyyy):______
Disposition (attached, lost, etc):________

What should I answer the disposition question? Can I say "in use"? What did you say?

Thanks, wantmygcnow!

Write the date issued and write "In Possesion". Also attach a letter on top stating why you are keeping the old one and will provide USCIS if they need the old one(a formality to write).

Last travel document i got in Sep 2004, I kept the old one and tht expired in July 2004 but they never asked for the old one when I got the new RTD..

They may ask only if the RTD in your hand is valid..

So USCIS won't force me to return the current RTD when gets my application.
I think we don't need to explain why to keep the current RTD, if USCIS does not require us to return it when apply for new ones. However, I will take your advice and say something in the application.

Thanks wantmygcnow!

sadasylee..USCIS wont issue you 2 RTD's that are valid..so to get another one thats valid longer..you gotta send in the current one.

Now since it take 4 months to get a RTD..in that time your current RTD can expire and you dont have to mail them the rtd..get it?

Got it. That's good news. Another quick question in case you/someone know:

In the last stage of GC processing (RFI, interview), will USCIS asks us to show them all the RTDs we have held, in order to review our living status in these years?

Thank you again!
