Hi,

I'm studying on an F1 visa in the US and am travelling to India in December on a British Airways flight via London. I have a valid passport and a valid and current F1 visa.

Do I need to apply for a transit visa for my 3-hour stopover in London? I don't plan to step out of the airport.

Please, please help!

You wont require one if you have a valid I-20 and you get them signed by your international office at your university. But please make sure that your connecting flights is on the same airport, (either gatwick or heathrow). Since there are two international airports in London, if you connecting flights is on a different airport then you require a transit visa. I went through this hassle this summer.

Re: Transit Visa

Thanks a lot indianguy! Yes, I just have a 2-hour layover at Heathrow, so no airport transfer involved.

What happened with you when you were travelling and how did it get resolved? Your experience will be useful for others to know.

Thanks again!
