Do CP or not?

We have just had I140 approved, but we left US already several months ago before this approval. We are suggested to converted from AOS to CP. A few things I would like to figure out before I am working on it:
1. What's the procedure to go to CP? Filing I-824? something more?
2. Is it difficult to get nonimmigration visa after filing CP, since we will often travel back to US for business reasons?

i don't really get what is your choice here? you cannot do AOS while outside the country. Filing I-485 shows immigrant intent, so you wouldn't be able to get any of the non-immigrant intent visas- tourist, student...
you would be able to get H visa and other dual intent visas.
i think you should do CP if you want the GC
