Hi,

I just became a citizen on 7/22 and I am running to the post office to obtain my passport. However, I will be traveling with my daughter in late October and would like to go to the post office tonight to apply for our passports, does my husband have to be present or can he just sign the application?

Also, any time estimates for Passports in Los Angeles?

Thanks.

Yes, both parents must be present at the post office while applying for a minor child's US passport. If one parent is absent, then that parent needs to sign a notarized affidavit authorizing the other parent to appear alone and apply.

It would save you and your husband lot of time and money if both of you can show up together. It only takes 30 mins from start to finish.
