DL renewal with EAD

My DL (drivers license) expires March'07 and H1-B in May'07. Still working on my H1-B visa. If I use my H1-B visa my DL will get renewed only till May'07. Have an EAD valid upto Oct'07.

Would like to stay on H1-B as long as possible, and hoping my I-485 will be approved by May'07.

Question I have is, if I use my EAD to renew DL, will that cancel my H1-B? Is there some kind of communication from BMV to USCIS once an immigration document is used to renew DL?

Please share you experiences.

It depends on which state you are in. Some states give DL for 5 years (like IL) if you are eligible for DL.
