Hello to all.
I have now a permenant residents card holder. I know in order to have your citizenship you must be married to US spouse for 3 years. What happens if I divorced after 3 years and 1 week proceding our aniversary. My GC will be 3 years on March2007. Question: Can I apply for US citizenship even know that my green card was only 2.5 years since was approved, but I divorce exactly in 3 years after marriage? Do they count to be married for at least 3 years or be a green card holder? Can I apply in few months for citizenship 90 days before 3 year on green card, but when applying I will be divorsed (even know my marriage license were good for 3 years and 1 week), will they grant based on that?

No, you can't apply based on marrige, then get divorced before the interview & oath.

If you applied based on marrige, you're qualified to apply 90 days prior to the 3 years of being a permenant residance.

though, you have to still married to her tell you get Sworn-in.

I'm telling you that, because i applied based on marrige too.

Regards,

Moody
