Hi All:
Thanks in advace for any help. I have divorce related question. I am US citizen now and my question is as below:
I got married in city A of India when I was on H1 visa and marriage was registered there in city A of India. Now I am US citizen and my wife is permanent resi and we want to take divorce ASAP. Me & my wife both are currently in city A of India. My question is as below:
- Is it enough that we file & register our divorce paper with local court in city A in india ???
- Do I need to let any US immigration or US emabassy or officials know abt out divorce.
- If filing divorce in city A in India is enough, and than if I decide to re-marry, would there be any problem bringing my new wife to US from India using my US citizen status.

Any help for anyone is appreciated....

Valid marriages and divorces under foreign jurisdictions are recognized under US law. You need to take no extra steps. Of course keep your divorce papers handy for the future.

Thanks stallion!!
Do I need to let any US immigration or US emabassy or officials know abt out divorce by law or is it ok not to mention to anyone unless there is a need???

I already answered that question. No one needs to be notified, but keep your divorce papers handy for the future as needed. It would help if your papers are in English language or a translation should be attached.
