District offices stopped giving interim EAD

Hello

Applied EAD oct 2005, went and got an interim EAD(valid 6 months only) which expired yesterday. Went yesterday to get Interim EAD but was told that they stopped issuing interim EADs and only service center can send the card as per latest guidelines they got yesterdat(July 10th 2006). The EAD case was moved from NSC to VSC and i guess thats the reason for delay.Stuck in a messy situation, drivers license expired as it is tied to EAD and also may be my job will be lost. Any suggestions as to what can be done. I called service center and they just put an inquiry request which will take 30 days.What happens to hundereds of people who do not get EAD renewal on time, now ?? Any information is helpful. Also guys, apply EADs in advance so that you dont get stuck like this

which district office you went?? still I see there were giving appointments for interim EAD's on Infopass website..??

I see that the appointments are still being given. When i went, i took appointment too. But when i got there i was told that thet stopped issusing interim EAD.I also saw a notice on some bay area website indicating the same. I still did not get my EAD.

r u still working? i'm in the same boat .i applied for ead on 30 april ,recd denial on 13th june.see my sign below for the reasons.
i reapplied another one on 15th with notice date of 16th june but nothing on that either.
my card expired on 13th and i'm sitting home .company has terminated my employment.they have however given me a letter saying ,they will rehire me once i get my ead.
i dont know what to do?
where did u file for ur ead,mine was filed in nsc.
 
I applied for EAD on oct 2005. Got an rfe in May 2006 and replied to it. I called USCIS CSC last week and I came to know that they are still processing my EAD. Is it only local service centers stopped giving Interim EAD? or there is no concept of Interim EAD at all?
 
Krishna09 - As far as i know interim EADs are only given by local offices when the processing of EAD application is late or when someone needs EAD before it gets approved.

To another question, yes i used the 485 receipt and in VA they gave the license for one year, atleast tha got solved

meera02 - I initially applied to NSC as my 485 was pending there. But after i applied my 485 moved to VSC and so did the EAD application. But it was not approved in time before my current EAD expired. Work situation is same, my employer said they will re-hire when i get my EAD
 
Hartford Local Office still issuing Interim EAD's

I went to Hartford USCIS local office on July 20th 2006, they are still issuing Interim EAD's.

just wanted to find out if there was any progress on ur ead processing ?
