I am on L1B ( specialized knowledge ) visa currently working in New Jersey. My visa was issued on 27 Nov 2007 , expires on 30 Oct 2010 and I entered US on 3 Dec 2007.
I wish to pursue a distance learning Master's programme in a accredited University in US.
I have completed the initial discussion with college and they have no issues as all the study would be online.
As a part of course requirements , I need to complete 11 courses which i intend to complete in 5 semesters ( 2009 - Spring , Summer , Fall > and 2010- Spring and Summer ). But I need to spend one semester at college campus ( they would be issuing me an I-20 ) and that is where I need some advice :
1. I can complete the course online while being under L1 visa only. Would that be allowed in L1? I checked with University and they do allow L1.
2. Can a prospective employer file an H1B for me under master's quota as this degree would be a masters degree ( even thought obtained online )
3. Can I request for an OPT while being under L1 visa or does OPT gets issued only under F1 visa?
4. If yes , what visa would I come under and how would I be able to work in US and for how long?
I think this is a complex scenario. I cannot leave my job and wish to pursue masters course as wel.
