well I was born in sierra Leone, West Africa. I came to America at age 7 with a visitor visa. My mom and dad were already here. I've been here 16 years now and it that time here's what occured..My dad became a citizen and was a citizen before I was 18..my mom became a permanent resident while I was in high school but because of paperwork error..the guy she married did not sign the paper to adopt me....I did not receive residency. Both of my parents have managed to procrastinate long enough for nothing to have changed in my status. My mom cannot locate the guy that she married and basically is not budging to file for me even though she could with her permanent residency. So I have no status...I've managed to go to community college but had to drop out because I couldn' afford to pay for the second year...I have a job...which is just as much of a surprise to me to get as it probably is to you..

I'm 22 going on 23 this july and I hav nowhere to turn..My only hope is probably to get married but at my age to tell a guy hey you wanna marry me to get me a green card is a bit hard to swallow....What can I do? Where can I turn? Is is over for me?

Is there anyway you can locate your Dad and see if he would file for you?
I am very sorry your going thru this I really dont have any advice for you, hopefully some of the more experinced here can help you or suggest things for you. Good luck

no, unfortunately my dad is more concerned with his failed relationship with my mom than with me. Thanks for your kind words though :o

Although you may not like this answer but you should consult a lawyer. I am pretty sure things are going to be in your favour. Even the courts nowadays don't deport people who are illegally here but cam here as minor and the courts has given them residency. If you can talk to a lawyer and have all the documents ready and then ask your father to sign them since it is a 'question about your future' it should not be a big problem. So just swallow the pill and give it a shot!

Sorry for your situation..nobody knows why grown ups sometimes act like children. It's so unfair because your parents are the ones who put you in this situation and now they are acting like you go on your own since the beginning.

Looking at immigration facts, there is nothing much to do, unless you really fell in love with a USC or if one of your parents decide to come forward. If the first one does not come alone try to get your parents and confront them.

I would not recommend you to go to the part of fraud (marry for a card), is not right.

Good luck,
