Just heard on the AVM that my case has been transferred to San Jose for interview. The message was updated on May 08 sometime between 7pm and 12am.

My ND 12/x/01, FP done 04/03/01.

I guess this is some good news for the rest of the discussion board people, cases are being processed, first FP in April I hear of. Not sure if this is good news for me or not. Please share any details on how long it takes to schedule the interview/what the interview may cover.

Thanks and good luck!

Dimpu,

I have a pretty good hunch on why the case was transferred. I think it is mostly due to an unusual familly situation. Of course with the INS anything is possible.

I guess I really have to start praying for the 180 days regulations now. I do not know how much the wait will be from now on and you never know what will happen on the economic front. I read the relevant page of Ciba\'s site but it is still unclear if I am looking at a couple of months, half a year or more than one year. Any pointers on when to expect the interview?

Oh well, the more things change the more they are the same ;-|

Good luck to the rest of you with NDs close to mine (12/00), your approvals may be around the corner.

Hi ProActive,

I am sorry to hear the transfer. From the limited data we gather,
you probably have to wait at least six months before an interview
is scheduled.

A few months ago, one CSC folk whose case was transferred to San
Jose told me that his lawyer got inside info from San Jose office
that they were working on cutting down the waiting time to three
months. I don\'t know whether it is true or not, because many CSC
interview folks are very upset upon knowing the tranfer that they
keep silent, which is understandable. However, we need more
interview data to have a better picture of how long it takes for
various office to schedule interviews.

I appreciate that you take the time to post your case, and I hope
you will continue to visit the website and keep us posted on the
development of your case.

P.S. Can you post your EB category, priority date, and country
of origin? And by the way, thanks for giving me tips on how to
post words document to webpage.

Thanks for your good wishes, I will be needing them. I am busy re-arranging my life for another 6 months of wait. At least I don\'t check the AVM every 3 hours, but that is a pretty pathetic consolation :-(

Good luck guys!

ProActive,

Don\'t be so dejected. If your job situation is relatively stable, you
will be fine in the end. Look at a CSC folk "wfegtj" who was interviewed
in Reno last month. His case was transferred and waiting for interview
for as long as I can remember. The time between transfer and the
final approval was nearly 12 months!! This is in addition to the wait
he endured during the whole I-485 period. It turned out to be fine
for him. Let\'s hope they will schedule you an interview quickly.

Please continue to visit this website. You will find the wait to be
a little easier if you exchange info with other folks.

Ciba,

Again thanks for your good words. I did not mean to sound so pesimistic :-)

Of course I will visit the site and let you know as soon as I have some more (immigration related) news.

Take care.

I just got off the phone with IIO. It was a guy this time and he did not sound very friendly so I kept my questions to a minimum.

He verified my name and address.
I told him I wanted to find status of my case.
He said it is still pending (as if I didn\'t know) and said it would take 90 days or so to hear from them.

I then asked him if he could verify if my FP was OK. He said he can\'t tell me that but they just received my FP on May 3rd. I take this as good news for two reasons

1) He did not ask me A# this time. Last time I called IIO , she asked for A# to locate my FP

2) He said that my FP was received on May 3rd. Last time I called on April 25th I was told they received my FP and now they received it ALL OVER AGAIN !!!!! This can only mean that they moved FP from System 2 to System 1 on May 3rd.

Hey Proactive what do you think ??

Comments welcome !

It is amazing how many times you were ablet to get through the phone system in the past weeks. I think you should start a business about letting people talk with IIO :-)

On the verbal inquiries there is a lot more room for inaccurate information since there is no paper trail (i.e., they make fun of you and you can\'t do anything about it). In my case the lawyer sent a fax inquiry. The results have been pretty unpleasant but immediate. You have to be careful what you wish for ;-)

The bottom line is that we are at the mercy of this birocracy. With the market going south and unemployment rising there is a lot less incentives for the companies and politicians to put pressure on the INS. And in any system, when the forces change so does the equilibrum state. In this case the new position is a lot more uncomfortable for us.

Some things you can change while others are out of your control. Take care of those you can affect: do a *great* job, talk to your lawyer (assuming that you paid him directly you have a little bit of leverage there) and keep your stress/frustration at some acceptable level. Life is long and there will be other challenges, one way or the other.

Good luck to everybody!

Thanks for your wise words, Proactive.

I have given up worrying at this point of time.
If the worst happens, I will prepone my wedding, that\'s all. I really did not want to do that based on my GC , but if that is the way it has to happen I am not going to fight it anymore.
