I have just been approved on Oct 2,2006. I plan to travel to my home country for Christmas. My problem is that my passport has my maiden name and green Card has my husband’s last name. For me to get a new passport with his name takes almost 4 months. Can I travel like that? I'm dying to go home. I also have a stamp in my passport but I am not sure how long it's good for. Please get back to me if you have any similar experience

Thank you

Bring your original marriage certificate (with new surname) with you.
It'll be fine as it is legal proof of name change.

you can also get your husband's name written in. there should be a page on your passport that says "name of spouse:____________". you can go to your embassy. take your cert with you and just have them write in your hubby's name. this is way you don't have to bother carrying your marriage certificate everywhere you go.

My wife had a similar experience last year. She also just brought her original marriage certificate. When she tried to change her passport, once she got to her country, they wouldn't change her last name anyway. They would just add my last name to it. Anyway, she got to go.
