I really don't understad why NSC people are saying different answers. My
Dates have been current from past 8 months. When I called them in January they said it's been assigned to officer review.Normally once it got cleared all the security checks then it will be assigned to officer. In January they didn't tell mine is stuck in NC.Yesterday have called FBI to find out about my FP clearance.FBI said they sent the response on the sameday it'self(May 2006).
One of my friend who is applied after me got I485 approval(Sep 2006) notice yesterday. Today morning called NSC and the lady first said visa number are not available. When I said my dates have been current from past couple of months then she said it's stuck in NC.Every time they are giving different answers.

I don't know when we all get freedom.

Thanks

Stuck in name check

my 2 cents..

Calling NSC at this time is total waste.

I got couple of responses for my inquiry with USCIS this year, they said waiting to assign to an officer. When I called this week, they said background check is not complete and also waiting for visa #. I told her Visa #s are current then she said waiting for backgroud check..

I think they might be getting lot of calls from Jun 1st, so their standard answer is "background check is pending"

Better take a infopass and find out the real status.

btw, you do realize that NC and FBI fingerprints are different processes ?

FP usually gets sent back the same day - NC could take months (and for some unfortunate folks even years).

Contact your senator/Congressman and see what response you get.

so what is the difference between backgound check and name check

what is the difference between backgound check and name check.
Is the background check the finger print check and security check the name check.

Our experience with NSC reps today

We called NSC today. Lady answered the phone. She was polite and after asking the application number and if we had visa number available recently, said that we are stuck in Security check by FBI. I was sure that our FPs are processed since we called FBI to verify that. So it must be craizy name check black hole.
We said that this doesn't make sence and that our application is there for 3 years already and our last name uncommon. She said that it might be because we are traveling (yeah, guess what).

I was very frustrated and ready to contact congressmen, etc

I read some threads on this forum and told my husband to call again.
Finally he spoke to a MAN that sounded like Immigration officer. He verified all the information, name, adress, etc. He said that they have this room with a huge number of cases to be approved because visa numbers become available.
He said that they are slowly processing these cases.
In our case all the security checks are done and we should get approvals soon :)

So Good Luck and G-d help us all!!!!

Exactly.... I was told the same answer when I called on Monday that security check is pending on my case.
Today I took infopass appt and the lady took a print out and showed me when my name check and back ground check are cleared. Dont believe in what the NSC IO's say......

I had called yesterday and I was told that all my checks were cleared and its been assigned to an officer for review. Can I buy what she said?

When I called next time(my wife called infact to check her status with name check) which is today, spoke to a different offficer who refused to give any information and instead directed to call 800 # to create a Service request.

I am only wondering if I have to rely on the information provided by earlier officer regarding my name check clearance.

Is Infopass helpful

I took INFOPASS appointment at Seattle today, and the officer said, since the case is with NSC they do not have access to the information, and they only know the case is pending review.

Which center did you take appointment and do they have access to NSC?
