Different Alien(A) # on Approved I-140 and I-485 Recipts

My Dear Friends,
I had 2 I-140 approved, One I-140-EB2 with PD JAN 2007 approved having the same Alien number (ABC) as the other I-140-EB3 approved having PD April-7th 2004.

My AOS was filed on AUG 10th 2007. Just received the Receipts and FP notice. They all have a different Alien (A) # (XYZ) than the 2 I-140 notices approved earlier.

Is this an issue? Since I have 2 I-140, I am worried if they will be able to use EB2 for me taking the earlier PD of April 7th 2004 using both the approved I-140's. But since the A # is now different on the I-485, I wonder if they would have issues getting/reconciling the info from my 2 approved I-140's with I-485.

My Attorney says, this is okay and I should be using the Alien Number issues on the I-148 Receipts going forward. And there is no need to check with USCIS.

Thanks

Manu

A# consolidation is done by a different officer and receipt notices are done by a diff one. I've called into USCIS with the same situation and they asked me to use the A# that came in with the 485 as my primary number to track the case.

They will eventually merge the A# and use the one with 485 as the main one to track your case.

I have my A# same on my EAD, I-131 and I-485

Thanks

Yeah, I checked with a few folks who applied in for AOS in July/Aug, and they also have got the same A# on the I-485 as they had on their I-140.
But My Attorney says, this is a very common issues in the heavy volumes of July filing of AOS.

Thanks

Manu
