Different A # Numbers for I-485 Application

Hi Everybody,


I applied for I-485(AP,EAD, I-485) in May 2002. I got my EAD within a month but my AP was rejected. The reason INS gave was that Ihad already gotten my green card. we realized that INS had given 2 different A# numbers for me((AP,EAD, I-485 do not have the same A#). My Lawyer Called INS twice and spoke to them about the problem. she was told that the A# will be corrected. It hasen't been rectified yet. It's been more than 3 months

Can anybody advise me on this
 
I had the same problem. The INS realized that they gave me an alien # that was already assigned to another guy. So they changed my A# midway after my 485 application. Without knowing that, I applied for EAD and AP in the local INS center and got EADs and APs with the old and wrong A#.
My lawyer found out about that 10 months after my application so she called up INS and they corrected it after a month.

My lawyer called them 3 times before they finally did that. So my advice to you is that you should go ask your lawyer to keep calling them until they fix the problem. Don't just sit and do nothing. It might come back to haunt you.

Thanks for your information. Do you think it would be a good idea
to go to Local INS office(New York city) to correct this A# number problem. Actually I filed my I-485 at Vermont
