Different A #? Need Advise

Weird situtation. It seems I have 2 differnet Alien #. There is a differnet A# on I 485 recipt and latest EAD, 2nd FP notice and Advance Parole.


1) I am not sure what are the implications of being assigned 2 A #'s
2) How can I tel which one is the correct one.

Online status was updated after recent 2nd FP , even though the 2nd FP had different A #

That is weird. You are not supposed to have two A#'s. You should tell your lawyer IMMEDIATELY and also call the INS customer service number to find out why. Insist upon your lawyer to notify the service center in WRITING. Later on, it will become a bigger mess. Resolve it before they approve your case.
 
I had a similar problem. I was assigned same A# as some other person with same name. Went to INS local center to get it corrected. They emailed NSC. It took a month for it to get resolved.
 
I had the similar situation.. They put different A# on my second EAD/AP.. called the lawyer.. she wrote the letter to NSC with copies..but nothing till date.. I talked to customer service people, they transferred the call to an IIO.. he said - your A# has been changed due to internal consolidation process.. so now on you can use either one as it points to the same person. While applying the third EAD/AP.. I put my old (original) A#.. but still on approved third EAD/AP they've put the new A#..even on FP notice too. So I now following what the IIO said... using the latest A#.

For sharing your situation and remedy. Both of you had a different reason for a different set of A #s

mukvij: How did you realize that A# was of some other person with same name? What was the your reason for appointment at local center?
 
They denied my EAD saying that my green card had been approved but the online status did not indicate that. So, I went to local center for the interim EAD. Thats where they discovered that there was some other person with same name and DOB who had been approved.
