Difference between I-140 and I-140 amendment

Does anybody know what\'s the difference between I-140 and I-140 amendment? The company that I work for simply have a name changed after filling my I-140. The company lawyer said she will file an amended I-140 for me. Does it mean that they are redoing the I-140?

I don\'t thing so there is any difference between them, only on 140 amendment they will attach existing 140
along with new 140, time processing will be same....no seprate process
