Difference between Fingerprint and Name Check

What is the difference between Fingerprint notice and Name Check?
How can I check their status?

Hi John,

There are two separate checks and both need to be cleared in order to obtain an approval. The Fingerprint check can be completed in about one day. The Name check, on the other hand, is a much more in depth process and normally takes up to six months to complete. If you get "stuck" in the name check, the process can take years.

what do they check?

I assume that with fp they check any criminal activity but do they also check backround as far as any unpaid debts and things like that? I have many unpaid debts and wonder if it will come up...
