Difference bet. security/name/background checks....

Today I happen to talk to immi. officer and I was told that security checks are all inclusive of any kind of checks including name check/background check. I must have asked atleast 5 times about whether or not my case was stuck in name check - and she kept replying that your case is under security checks - and they have to wait to receive a report form the department concerned. Also I kept also I kept asking for the dates when these security check began - and she kept saying that they are not allowed to disclose that information. Another thing that I asked her was which deparmtent did my case got stuck at - FBI or any of the VSC depts. - She said again that they cannot disclose this kind of information and the only thing that she can say was that my case is currently being under security checks in some department - and they have to wait to receive a report from this deparmtne in order to process my case - and there is no timeline for this.

Could some one please help me to interpret what immi. officer meant???

Also why me??? What could be the reason for these "security checks"? I am pretty sure that not everone go through all these security checks - those who get there 485 approved early - do not have to go through all the security checks like the ones that get stuck.

The difference is that in most cases, they are cleared early. Some like us get stuck. It is random; there is no reason to take it personally.

The VSC rep on phone had said the same thing to me - pending security/background checks. Letter from the senator narrowed it down to pending "name and date of birth checks from the FBI".

If you wrote to the senator, that letter will hopefully tell you exactly where you are stuck.

WHY U DON`T SEND THIS FOIPA LETTER WITH "NO RECORDS" TO VSC RIGHT NOW?
