Difference b/w Name check and Security check pending?

I saw many posting regarding name check and security check pending. What is the difference between these two? Which one takes longer? :confused:

The security check, I believe, has for components, including the FBI namecheck. However, they are probably referring to the namecheck when they mention security check as it is probably the cause of the delay in processing your application.
 
At my interview they told me I had a background check pending, though they specifically told me it was NOT the name check. It cleared the next business day and I got my oath letter less than a week after my interview.
 
He said to me that my Security Check is pending and after my wife's interview he told her that either she can get her oath letter now or he can mail her since my (husband) security check will clear today and have oath together. :confused:
