Experts - kindly shed some light here?

judging by posts of others it seems that that people have been
FaxingName Check Inquiry to FBI & then almost mo later faxing to the FOIPA #?

should one use same form letter rahul has in his pdf for both purposes?

since the privacy act letter to david hardy in his pdf is labelled for foipa is there diff format for name check fax letter?

how come milmil's post suggests that he got reply to his foipa same day sept 17th? also why does
Faxed FOIPA: September 17th, 2004
Received letter "No Records": September 17th, 2004

also if his check cleared then why does it say status pending?
Received Email Status Pending: Sep 23rd, 2004

Dear emote
I’m not an expert but I’ve been and still am going through this process, the very first thing you need to do is send a letter to the FBI and ask them what are the status of your name check!( you can find the format of the letter in one of my posts, just click on my user name and look for all my posts and it’s in one of my recent posts) any ways if you get a letter back from a man called Dave hardy saying that your name is still pending, than you need to go a head and fill out that FOIA form that Rahul has and hopefully you should get it back with NO-RECORD, once you get that back you can go ahead and contact your congressman and ask him for help, that is what we are doing right now, now you said that milmil’s got his request back the same day, may be the FBI didn’t have a lot of requests that day, mine came back with in 3 days weekend included, name check takes about 10-20 days but FOIA doesn’t, for right now you need to go ahead and send a letter to the FBI and hopefully they’ll tell you, you are all cleared, if you have further questions all you have to do is ask there are a lot of good people on this forum that are willing to help, all you need to go is ask :) good luck.

P.S “also if his check cleared then why does it say status pending?

I have no clue, hum that is a good question.

welcoming the tired & weary masses ...

Thanks much - Perhaps i'm doing this in the opp order [w/ red tape it may be inconsequential in any case] .. faxed the foipa form letter on fri & will send out the name chk fax mon based on ur format.

The support network on this board is terrific: it'll take a few grassroots campaigns like this to keep the USCIS in line [if it ever happens]. Seems like Mr. Khanna is a modern day Schindler helping the helpless who have no recourse from the bureaucracy. So much for welcoming the tired & weary masses ... After 17 yrs in this country [over half my life] i'm pretty tired & weary of the endless road to legal citizenship.

tell me about it, after long 8 years most of my family is citizen except me and my brother, and believe it or not one of my sisters that came to U.S with us under the same circumstance as all of us, doesn’t have a green card yet, how ridicules is that. Well I wish you all the best and hopefully this long road will come to an end soon for all of us. I'm sure it's all worth it.
