Did I waste time ? Please clarify ....

Dear Boardmembers,
I had applied for I485 more than an year ago and waiting for approval after FP. I got married 4 months ago. I asked my lawyer whether I could apply for my wife\'s I485, he said my PD has to be current. Since I am in EB3 it wasn\'t current then. It is becoming current on this July 1st. So I sent her application this week. But now the lawyer says that I didn\'t have to wait till now, I could have applied earlier. Which is true ? Can someone explain to me. Thanks.

To the best of my knowledge, one can only apply for I-485 if the visa number is current. A friend of mine is working w/ the same reputable law firm as I am - he was only able to file for I-485 once his PD became current. He is also EB3. There is more info available on this at http://www.immihelp.com

Click on "Adjust. of Status (I-485)" (on left side of screen) then click on "Priority Date"
