Did I just get my greencard?

I just got the following email (3 times):

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Card production ordered.

On December 29, 2006, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

BUT...I have not even gone for an interview. What is this? I-140 petition and Adjustment of Status apps were filed in late nov 2006. I got my EAD card and had my fingerprints taken. Still waiting for travel doc. My understanding was that the I-140 or I-485 would take 5-6 months (in Texas Serv Center) and then after the adjustment of status was pending 180 days it would be portable (I want to quit my job and take another). But now I get this? Does it mean the greencard is approved like other posts here have said? If so, how could that be without an interview? Would it be portable or do I still need the 180 days to pass?

you lucky dawg - i think u got but call USCIS to verify. these days, interviews are waived for most EB applicants - see attached memo

Also, how soon after you filed did you get your FP letter? Was there an LUD before you receive your FP letter? Was everything filed concurrently? Mine was filed mid December, and i haven't heard anything about the FP yet. Please advise

congrats.u r so lucky. u got ur green card. it took u less than 2 months. in most all cases, there is no interview for employment based green card. what r u case details? from which country r u?

once u have ur green card, u can leave ur employer whenever u want, although it will be better if u wait few months. but it is a choice, there is no clear rule about that.

From Canada. Been in US for 6 years, first on a TN and then two H1Bs which expires in a few months. Joined current employer July 2005 and started greencard process about 2 months later. Filed using PERM. I-140 petition and Adjustment of Status filed Nov 22, 2006. Early Dec rec'd letter for finger prints and we went the week after. About 10 days ago we got our EAD cards. Then just found out today about the greencard and still in shock.

I think I might have missed something...

That's incredible! Congratulations. Do you know when your I-140 got approved?

The notice today was "Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Card production ordered."

So....this is for the I-1485/Adj of status. What card would this be for? Wouldnt the greencard itself be associated with the I-140? I filed concurrently so I only (to my knowledge) have one case.

My understanding is that the second step is the I-140 and the last is the Adj of status (or consular). I filed together. Now I am really confused

The card is for the I-485 which is the greencard application. However, when you file concurrently, the I-140 immigrant petition, which is a separate application, is always approved before the I-485 (in a very unusual situation, it may be approved the same day as the I-485). So you should have received an I-140 approval. If you know your I-140 receipt number, you should check that online. Don't worry that you have not gotten your travel document - all these applications are processed separately, so it is very likely that they went ahead and processed your I-140 and I-485 and just overlooked the travel document application. In any case, your greencard is now your "travel document" so enjoy it and Happy New Year!

To my knowledge have not rec'd anything on I-140. I have one receipt number - I am not sure if its for 140 or 485. When I login it only shows the latest entry. Would I have two seperate numbers if filed jointly? Also, if both are approved don't I still need to wait 180 days for adj of status?

You should definitely have two receipt numbers if you applied I-140 and I-485 concurrently. You should have an additional two receipt numbers for your EAD and Advance Parole (travel) document. All of these may have gone to your employer or lawyer. It seems the only receipt number you have on hand is the I-485 right now (since that is what shows in the "Application Type" field), so ask your lawyer or employer for the others. I would definitely check to see if the I-140 has been approved before taking any action. They cannot approve the greencard without the I-140 being approved.

Here is what I have so far

from my employer. I have 4 numbers - 2 when i went for the fingerprint, which I think are for I485, one for wife and one for myself.

I also got my EAD card which listed a recpt number, again 2 in total for my wife. Is there not a way to enter alien or A# and get the associated application numbers?

when i entered them all in here is what i got

-two entries for I-485 - both say "card production ordered"
-one i765 for employement authorization
-one OS155A IMMIGRANT VISA AND ALIEN REGISTRATION - what is this???

all have been approved. what does this all mean?

my understanding is there is the I485, I140, EAD and travel doc. so four items.

Relax - you're approved. Enjoy it and the New Year's.

The employer probably didn't give you the I-140 receipt because that is an employer sponsored application and so they can choose to withold that information from you if they wish. However, it is qiute obvious that your I-485 has been approved, which means your I-140 got approved prior to this and your employer just didn't inform you.

Congratulations again.

Tough to relax since my case is a little more complicated.

I was recently let go from ny employer. If I sign a release I stay on payroll for 2 months. If greencard not done I can continue on unpaid leave.

But...I don't want to sign the reklease. Before I got approved I thought I would still have to sign to get the greencard since they could theoretically pull the app. Now that it looks like its approved do I run a risk if iu am no longer on the payroll? Is it 100pc portable now? They always said regardless how fast I should wait the 180 days,

This definitely is a lot more complicated. I suggest you talk to an independent immigration attorney (not the one used by your company).

herethere - hey, i am curious but did you get your EAD yet? I filed mine at TSC and was wondering how long tyhey take to process EADs - the USCIS official times are useless as they are not accurate.

Nope. Not a single LUD either (I recently started getting LUDs for my AP though). I'm not sure what's going on - several people who applied after me have already received their cards. I have had three EADs in the past (from F-1 OPT applications) so maybe that's the cause of the delay, but who knows how these people work.

I applied my EAD when submit I485 in April 2006 and got it around 3 weeks. later on, my husband applied his EAD in early Dec and we got approval email for his EAD on 12/29. It took around 3 weeks as well. Our I485 is pending at TSC, too.
