Did anyone get I94 stamped instead of passport?

Someone in the forum advised me that since my passport is expiring within next 4 months, I should get my I94 stamped instead of passport.

The approval notice also says that I need to take an extra photo if I want to get a temporary card stamped (I think they mean I94).

Can anyone share their thought about this? Any experiences?

Yes, It happenned to me. There was a correction on Expiration Date on my passport which was done by Indian Passport office. As per the Immigration officer in Bombay, There is Code "L" written just where the correction is made. It is understood by immigration officer at the Airport all around the world.

But, IIO at Jacksonville, FL didn't know that. Hence she refused to stamp my passport But put a stamp on I-94 along with my picture.

Further on this document I did went to India and came back without any problem. Of course, Immigration officer in Bombay did asked me Why my passport was not stamped whereas the my wife and daughter did.

I explained him the reason. He said That's fine.

Yes - there is a temporary GC that is on a large white I-94. You can have that instead of getting a stamp on your national passport. It will be valid for one year and will show you as being processing for I-551. If you are going to do this, make sure you take 3 photos (instead of 2 ) when you go for stamping.

A question for you. Your approval date is Nov 2003, then you should be eligible to apply for citizenship Aug. 2006 (GC by marriage) or Aug. 2008 (GC not by marriage).

How come it's Aug. 2007?
